Prime Minister Stephen Harper hosts Heritage Park BBQ

Prime Minister Stephen Harper hosted the annual Calgary southwest BBQ at Heritage Park during his first trip home after winning the 2011 election.

MPs, dignitaries, and those who bought tickets were dressed up in their finest western duds enjoyed the event Saturday night.

Harper stood in front of a Canadian flag as he thanked Albertans for their support in the recent election and addressed what it means to be a conservative saying “We are not a party of entitlement. That is the very centre of who we are as Conservatives.”

Harper also received a standing ovation when he took a minute to thank the Canadian Armed Forces.
