Where was Harry, and why did The Royals leave early?

It’s back — just in time for Stampede!

Calgary’s famous Cowboys bar has re-opened for The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth with a tent parked outside the Casino on the Stampede Grounds.

Back in March, Cowboys took over management of the casino’s food, beverage, and  entertaintment divisions. Pending the approval of a redevelopment permit, there are big plans for the casino and Cowboys’ owner Paul Vickers tells the Calgary Herald that when complete, the new location will be the largest entertainment complex ever in Canada.

Those plans call for a permanent location for Cowboys, the notorious nightclub that’s had two previous permanent locations in the core, in The Big Sky Room.

In 2007, the bar gained international notoriety when Prince Harry, training at CFB Suffield,  stayed after hours and chatted up local bartender, Cherie Cymbalisty.

Interestingly, his brother — Prince William and his new bride Princess Kate — left Calgary this past week, just as all the fun at Stampede was beginning.
