A severe thunderstorm causes flooding in the city

Calgary was hit with yet another thunderstorm on Tuesday evening, sending down sheets of heavy rain and hail just after 7 o’clock which caused flooding on some major roadways.
Traffic was disrupted on northbound Deerfoot Trail between McKnight Blvd and 16th Avenue after a sewer cover blew off from all the extra water flow.
Fire crews had to replace a number of sewer covers that became dislodged by water pressure in many areas of the city.
The fire department’s aquatic rescue team responded to a report of two people stranded on their raft in the Bow River duting the storm, but both made it to shore safely.
Battalion Chief Ernie Molineaux tells 660News, the Hazmat Unit was also called in in the northeast after a vehicle spun out and spilled paint into a storm sewer.
Three people were also rescued from their vehicles in different areas of the city after getting stranded in large pools of water.
A number of fire alarms were also reportedly triggered by the storm.
Police say the weather caused a few crashes within the city, but luckily no injuries were reported.
The storm moved out of the city to the northeast within about an hour and a half.
The thunderstorm warning was lifted shortly after and the watch ended before midight.
