Flooding causing major traffic headaches in the northeast

Westbound 16th Avenue was closed at 19th Street N.E., as was the northbound ramp from Deerfoot Trail to westbound 16th Avenue as a torrent of water poured onto the road Wednesday morning.
“Water continues to gush from the westbound lanes of 16th Avenue down the hill (towards Deerfoot Trail),” says 660 traffic reporter Captain Kirk. “Looks like the water is coming from a huge hole; that water has completely flooded-out all the westbound lanes of 16th Avenue.”
City crews are on the scene and don’t know yet if it’s a water main break.
Also in the northeast, a water main break closed the right hand lane on southbound 52nd Street, and Rundlehorn Drive is down to one lane in both directions. It’s in the same area where a geyser of water poured into a house last week from a broken pipe.
