A semi rollover on the Trans-Canada just west of the city caused nearly five hours of traffic delays Wednesday night.
RCMP and emergency crews were on scene just after 5 p.m. and traffic was detoured near the Highway 22 turnoff.
The detour lasted so long because the semi spilled hundreds of litres of diesel over the highway, causing crews to block the road and clean up the mess.
EMS’s Stuart Brideaux tells 660News the driver’s injuries were minor, despite the fact the semi overturned on the highway.
Brideaux adds the driver managed to pull himself out of the truck and was taken to hospital as a precaution.
The westbound lanes of the highway were blocked as police investigated, but were re-opened around 10:30 p.m. with a brief detour in place.
