Cyclist hit by C-Train in the northwest

A 29-year-old cyclist has been hit by a C-Train between the SAIT and the Lion’s Park LRT stations.

EMS Spokesman Stuart Brideaux tells 660News he’s in serious, life-threatening condition in hospital.

The man was on a Schwinn bicycle, was southbound on the ramp from 14th Avenue to 14th Street N.W. The cyclist rode around the ”train crossing arm” and was clipped by the inbound C-Train as he crossed the tracks.

The cyclist was knocked off his bicycle and came to rest 12 meters southeast of the area of impact.

Neither speed nor alcohol appear to be factors in the collision.

C-Train service was disrupted for over two hours early Thursday evening while police investigated the crash.

Shuttle buses ran between the 8th Street and Banff Trail stations during that time.
