The White House and Republicans may have an agreement to prevent the U.S. from defaulting on its debts – but it’s not a done deal yet.
Debate on a final compromise is underway in Washington.
Congress is negotiating the deficit-cutting plan agreed upon by U.S. President Obama and republican leaders.
From both the left and the right, there’s still some resistance to the compromise, but it appears the plan is building up enough support to clear the house and senate.
The plan to raise the U.S. debt ceiling while cutting two trillion dollars in spending must still be approved by Congress.
And there are members of both parties that oppose the deal.
The plan is expected to go to a vote in both the House of Representatives and the Senate before the end of the day.
