Two storms bring hail and lightning through city

A couple of nasty storms whipped through Calgary within 30 minutes of each other Thursday night.
According to Environment Canada, two storms were both moving southeast at 30 kilometres per hour.
One of them was from the northeast and the other moved from the northwest.
The storm from the northeast brought hail and high winds and by the time it made its way downtown, the amount of hail resembled a winter wonderland.
The second storm came on the heels of the first from the Cochrane area which brought lightning, striking a house in the northwest community of Hidden Valley.
It sparked a fire which was quickly put out by the Calgary Fire Department.
Fire’s Acting Battalion Chief Edward Cornez tells 660News, that no one was home at at the time and no injuries have been reported.
The fire department is waiting to notify the homeowner about the incident.
