Differing opinions on gasoline prices

There’s lots of grumbling at the pumps, as many services stations in the city have boosted prices by as much as five cents a litre.
Drivers want to know why they are paying more today, following the recent slide in world oil prices.
Roger McKnight with En-Pro International Inc. calls it nothing more than price gouging, with oil companies trying to cash in ahead of the end of the summer driving season.
McKnight admits some of the savings drivers should be enjoying have been wiped out by the fall of the loonie, but adds higher prices at this point are not warranted.
Peter Linder with DeltaOne Capital Partners says there is nothing sinister going on and current gas prices are simply a reflection of supply and demand.
Gas prices in Calgary are now averaging just over $1.15 a litre, several cents below the national average, but more than 20 cents higher than they were this time last year.
Linder and McKnight do agree on one thing, people will be paying less to motor around after Labour Day.
