Sprinkler system saves NE home

The Calgary Fire Department says a residential sprinkler system helped save a home from flames in the northeast.

The fire brokeout at around 2:30 Saturday afternoon in the 200 block of 2nd Avenue.

The 10-year old home had a sprinkler system installed when it was built and the incident commander says it significantly reduced the fire and smoke damage.

The flames were extinguished in the kitchen.

No one was hurt and the cause is being investigated.
