An aspiring Calgary filmmaker is to blame for an online hoax, after tricking many people and even some media organizations into thinking a NASA satellite crashed into a farmer’s field near Okotoks.
Using his Twitter account, Sebastian Salazar described a satellite crashing into Earth, and even posted a picture of the so-called debris he made from spare parts.
RCMP Sgt. Patrick Webb tells The Calgary Herald he got calls from reporters in Japan, England and across the U.S. about it.
The satellite actually fell into the Pacific Ocean off the U.S. West Coast late Friday night.
