U of C prepared for World Solar Challenge

After training for the past year, 30 students from the University of Calgary will put their skills to the test at The World Solar Challenge.
Their car will compete against 40 others racing 3,000 kilometres across the Australian Outback.
Business student and team driver Jordan Troyer says building their car over the past 18 years has been a labour of love. She hopes its lighter, aerodynamic frame will provide the extra push needed for a top ten finish. “We have put a tremendous amount of work into this car. I cannot count the amount of all nighters we’ve pulled working on that car”, Troyer said.
Troyer says they’ve used silicone solar shells and newer technology to give it its sleek shape.
The race gets underway in Australia October 16th and finishes on the 23rd.
