A new Alberta Premier will be announced tonight

After an eight month campaign, members of Alberta’s Progressive Conservative Party chosen their new leader today.

Gary Mar, Alison Redford, and Doug Horner are vying to replace Premier Ed Stelmach.

Mar is in the lead, he collected 41 per cent of the votes in the first round of balloting.

That was well short of the majority needed to become premier, so a second round of balloting was required.

The results will be announced Saturday tonight at a north Edmonton convention centre.
