VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Now that Vancouver’s skyline has officially changed, the revamped roof at BC Place means changes are likely coming to local tourist shops.
That means some businesses in Gastown and art stores with skyline paintings will need to update their inventory to replace any images of the old marshmallow roof with the modern BC Place.
Walt Judas with Tourism Vancouver thinks the stadium is much more appealing now. “We’ve been preparing for it for a couple of years. People will be anxious to sell the new postcards, t-shirts, and paintings and in any way else that BC Place will be depicted.
He says they’ve got new aerial shots of the area to add to their website and in their presentations to clients, and so far, the feedback has been positive.
“People that hang on to the old image, iconic image of BC Place think that to be the original, just like there are many people that are still collecting images of the skyline in New York when the twin towers were still standing.”
Judas can’t speculate as to how much money it’s going to cost to replace all the old photos, but adds it won’t come cheap.
