Quick reaction from Calgary transit and City police has resulted in charges being laid against two Calgary men after a vicious attack on a C-Train early Thursday morning.
Facing a string of assault and robbery charges are 25-year-old Gordon Elwood and 20-year-old Jacob Tolchinsky.
A University of Calgary student on his way home from a night of studying was attacked by two men who were after his wallet.
The victim was stabbed in the face numerous times with a pen before a help button was pressed on a C-train car.
“It was at that point that the conductor of the train was able to communicate with Calgary transit, who was then able to communicate with EMS and Calgary police service and that resulted in a response time of mere minutes.”
The attack occurred as the train approached downtowns 8th Street West station, where transit officers and police chased the accused down.
The entire attack was captured by transit’s video surveillance system.
