Landmark elevator to be demolished

The century old Ogden Federal Elevator will be demolished 8 a.m. Sunday morning.

There will be a viewing area along 15th Street and 46th Avenue southeast on October 16th, where people can watch the demolition.  There will not be any access for vehicles.

People with any kind of respiratory problems are encouraged to stay clear of the are due to the debris that’s expected to be in the air.

Some very brief road closures will be in place but will only last for 7-10 minutes and will begin at 7:57 a.m.

The company that owns the grain elevator, Cargo, will continue to serve the farming community with other grain elevators in the area.

This particular one is being destroyed because its location is considered inconvenient for its users.
