A smoke detector may have saved the lives of two people after a fire at a home in Riverbend last night.
Two adults were already on the lawn of the home on Rivercrest Place S.E. when firefighters arrived.
Calgary Fire Department Battalion Chief Ernie Molineaux tells 660News they were worried a 19-year-old was still inside but firefighters soon determined he wasn’t home yet.
Fire crews managed to contain the fire to one room in the basement.
The blaze started in the utility room.
