City council considers curbside composting program

Calgary residents could be rolling three bins out to the curb by early next spring.
The city is eyeing a curbside composting program.
It would see a green bin added to the black one for garbage and the blue one for recycling. Aldermen will debate the idea Wednesday.
If approved, composting pickup will be tested in a pilot project in March.
Some 660News listeners say it’s about time.
“I think if it really impacts the environment and we get some benefit out of it, certainly it sounds like a good idea,” says one listener.
“As a truck driver, I’ve been to the landfill in the last two years way too often and I’ve seen way too much good stuff in the landfill,” says another man.
Meanwhile, some don’t feel they’ll be affected one way or another.
“I don’t think it’ll make much difference if you already have the other two bins. It doesn’t affect me anyway,” says one woman. “I don’t live in a place where I have to use the bins.”
