Corrections officer kidnapped while transporting prisoner

A harrowing ordeal for a corrections officer after allegedly being kidnapped by an offender she was transporting back to the Drumheller institution.
Police say the the officer was moving the prisoner when he faked being sick. When the officer tried to help him, he overpowered her and choked her unconscious. The inmate then put the officer in the back of the vehicle, before dropping her off. The prisoner was eventually hunted down and taken into custody a short distance away.
“My office, Three Hills RCMP, and Olds RCMP did a wonderful job in getting this matter dealt with very quickly,” Sargent Joe Sangster tells 660News.
“I guess without saying, she’s doing OK,” adds Sangster. “But I think she’s going to be dealing with this for a little bit.”

32 year old Donald Junior Fowler is charged with escaping lawful custody, kidnapping as well as other charges.
