The Calgary Board of Education has unanimously voted to put restored provincial funding back into the classroom.
Now, it’s up to school principals to decide exactly how to spend the $15-million.
660News listeners say it should go back to exactly where it came from before it was cut: hiring back teachers.
“Teachers are the ones who spend all the time with our kids, and they have a big influence on them and it’s good to have the best teachers possible,” says one man.
“A lot of friends who have education degrees can’t get jobs,” says another listener.
The money comes as Premier Alison Redford fulfilled her campaign promise to restore $107-million to school boards if elected.
