Occupy Calgary protestors continue to stay

It looks like those who have been camped out as part of the Occupy Calgary protest on St. Patrick’s Island near the zoo will be staying a little longer.
The city set Oct. 31 as the deadline for those living in tents in the public park to move out.
Deputy Chief of Calgary’s Emergency Management Agency Tom Sampson tells 660News, the city doesn’t have any plans to physically remove the protestors.
Sampson says their numbers are dwindling and they hope a solution can be found, and soon.
One of the organizers of the Occupy Calgary movement, Paul Hughes, says tearing down their tents and moving into the Drop-In Centre or the Mustard Seed will not address their concerns.
Hughes says more resources to deal with things like mental health and addiction problems need to be made available before he and his island mates relocate.
He says he still can’t believe the mayor has yet to come down for a chat around the campfire.
There is also another Occupy Calgary protest at Olympic Plaza across from City Hall.
