It’s shaping up to be a banner year for regional ski hills.
Nakiska is already open.
Resort of the Canadian Rockies’ spokesperson Matt Mosteller tells 660News the reviews are in — and they’re excellent!
“Skiing and ride” (snowboard) “conditions have been excellent,” says Mosteller. “Guests are saying, mid-winter type conditions on all runs.”
Mosteller notes you don’t even have to be a skier or boarder to enjoy the serenity and fresh air at Nakiska.
“We’ve got an area where families and friends can sit and watch and enjoy taking part in watching a family member learn to ski or ride,” adds Mosteller. “So it creates a real fun get away for that weekend time.”
They’ve been making snow on Nakiska for a while
Other mountains, like Fernie, don’t need to make snow. Mosteller says that hill saw over 35 feet of natural snow last season.
And there’s going to be a lot of snow on the hills of the Rockies, this year. The La Nina effect is coming for this winter, making for soft powdery snow and perfect conditions for skiers and riders.
