Parks Canada has issued a high avalanche hazard for the alpine.
Lisa Paulson with Parks Canada says a high rating means natural avalanches are likely, and human triggered avalanches are probable.
“Significant snowfall essentially doubled or even tripled our snow pack in some areas, and that’s all sitting on a very weak base.”
Parks Canada is reminding skiers to practice avalanche safety, including staying within the ski areas boundaries.
Paulson adds their expecting another 25 centimeters Sunday evening.
Meanwhile, Mike with the Saskatchewan River Crossing in Banff National Park says they’ve received 40cm in just two days.
