Closing arguments wrapped up on Friday in the Dustin Paxton trial.
During the two month long case, over forty witnesses were called to the stand, as Paxton chose not to testify in his own defence.
Defence lawyer Jim Lutz spent much of the day trying to discredit the testimony of Paxton’s accuser.
Lutz insists that even if there had been some form of sexual contact between the two men, what Paxton’s accuser testified to doesn’t fall under the category of sexual assault because: a) the man made it clear that Paxton never touched him and b) the alleged victim testified that Paxton never told him to perform sexual favours on him.
Lutz also pointed out that claims made by the alleged victim regarding certain injuries he received by Paxton were not consistent with doctors’ findings.
Paxton waived his right to trial by jury, which mean Justice Sheila Martin will now weigh the evidence in the case, before making her decision.
A day of judgment has not been set.
