Calgary Police and Alberta Sheriffs launch their annual Enhanced Checkstop Program Thursday.
Until December 23rd, Police will be pulling over drivers between noon and 8:00 p.m., checking to see if they have been drinking.
Constable Jim Lebedev says they don’t have a problem with people being festive, but within reason.
“We’ll be out there looking for the impaired drivers, who are out there being a little too festive and shouldn’t be driving after they’ve had a few cocktails,” says Lebedev.
He adds the Enhanced Checkstop Program operates four days a week and drivers won’t have warning about what days those are.
