After 13 years of operation, the Calgary Police Service is permanently closing its Silver Springs community station on Wednesday.
The CPS decided not to renew the annual $600,000 lease due to high costs as well as the relocation of several units from that facility to the new CPS Westwinds campus.
Silver Springs residents are now encouraged to use other police stations including District 3 at 14 St. and John Laurie Boulevard N.W., as well as District 7 on Country Hills Boulevard.
A CPS spokesperson tells The Calgary Sun that there are tentative plans for a new tri-services office in the N.W. community of Royal Oak sometime in 2012 or 2013.
