While most Calgarians are probably aware of the upcoming World Junior Championships in the city, organizers of another tournament featuring good young hockey players are hoping not to get lost in the shuffle.
The annual Mac’s AAA Tournament takes place the week after Christmas at Max Bell, Father David Bauer, and Flames community arenas.
Spokesperson Ron Thompson says fans attending the games won’t be disappointed.
“These are some very talented young athletes and they’re on that cusp of WHL,” said Thompson.
Over 200 scouts attend the games, and more than 400-eventual NHL’ers have skated in the tournament over its 34-year history, he said.
