A new BMO survey has found gift-giving in the office is up this year.
BMO VP Bill Hogg says it appears after a couple of lean economic years, workers and their bosses are exchanging cards or trinkets wanting to show their appreciation to one another.
He says Christmas often brings out the best in all of us.
“The time of the year and looking back and saying we’ve gone through a couple of tough years economically with the financial crisis recession since 2008 and I think it’s people saying we’ve worked hard and we just want to recognize people for that,” he says.
The same survey also found more companies are throwing office Christmas parties this year.
