Man dies after serious crash on Deerfoot

A serious crash that tied up northbound Deerfoot Trail for almost four hours, ended in tragedy Wednesday.
Police say a man in his 40’s has died in hospital, after his car crashed into a light pole on Deerfoot Trail near Airport Trail just after 4 p.m..
No one else was hurt in the crash.
Duty Inspector Paul Malchow says the vehicle crossed all three lanes of Deerfoot and that’s why the investigation took longer then usual.
The driver was trapped in his car and had to be removed by fire fighters.
Calgary Police say it’s still too early in the investigation to say if speed or alcohol were factors in the collision.
