Environmentalists are building on their success in holding up the Keystone XL pipeline and are making strides in slowing shale oil and gas extraction.
A public outcry over fracking has prompted the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to begin drawing up new regulations on waste water disposal and disclosure of the chemicals used in the process.
Green groups are also making headway with appeals in New York where there’s now a temporary ban on shale drilling.
In Pennsylvania, Delaware and New Jersey, regulators are delaying a vote to lift a ban.
