Low crime rate good for business

Calgary’s Police Chief says his aim for 2012 is to keep crime in check to help attract more companies set up shop here, in one of Canada’s safest cities.
Chief Hanson also wants to target at-risk youth and violent crime
He says he’d like to see an “in school” pilot project expanded to all schools throughout the city.
“The multi-agency school support teams that we piloted in the northeast; the police officers and social workers paired up in police cars that are targeting root cause youth crime,” says Hanson. “All the research says get into the elementary schools, identify the kids that are starting demonstrate behaviours that would clearly indicate they’re on a path that would lead them to criminal activity or even victimization.”
He says the Calgary Police Service will work vigorously to reduce the number of home invasions and organized crime groups operating in our city.
Hanson adds their goal is to ensure every Calgarians can say they feel our city is a safe on to live and work.
