Alderman says call your MLA over NW oil project

Those who oppose energy development in the city are being told to call their MLA, not their alderman or the mayor.
The area alderman says the city doesn’t have much say on what happens on Crown land, even if the property is within city limits.
Kaiser Exploration has been given permission to drill a sweet oil well, behind the Walmart off 85th street northwest.
Gord Lowe is expressing surprise at the lack of public consultation on the application. He says the company only had to worry about getting ERCB and provincial approval because it’s on Crown land.
Lowe says there are still some issues he would like to see addressed before ground is broken, including public safety and transportation.
