Next 48 hours key for Sarah Burke

The operation was successful, but Canadian freestyle skier Sarah Burke is still in critical condition after a terrible fall in Park City, Utah.

Burke was training on Tuesday, landing a flip, but tripped and fell on her head, rupturing a vertebral artery which led to bleeding in her brain.

In surgery Thursday, the torn artery was repaired by surgeons, but Burke is being kept in an induced coma.

She’s one of the best in her world at her sport, named in 2011 as ESPN Skier of the Year, and in 2007 at the ESPY’s, she was named the Female Action Athlete of the Year.

She is four times a gold medalist at the X-Games.
