CO leak forces downtown residents from homes

Up to 400 people were forced from their homes early Wednesday morning due to a carbon monoxide leak downtown.

Police and fire crews had to close the 1100 block of 6th Avenue S.W. just after 5:00 a.m. to deal with the evacuation of the affected building.

The evacuees were loaded onto Calgary Transit buses to keep warm while officials dealt with the leak.

Fire, police and the Calgary Emergency Management Agency remain on scene.
