XL Pipeline could be built without Whitehouse approval

Officials at TransCanada says they may go ahead with the Keystone XL Pipeline without Whitehouse approval.
The energy giant plans to re-apply to build the controversial project in 2014 without changing the route.
In the meantime the industry is also looking at new ways to get it’s product to market.
TransCanada spokesman Alex Pourbaix says, with U.S. State Department approval of the pipeline already in place, they may build segments of the pipeline as long as they have the support of shippers.
Pourbaix says he understands the U.S. election year may be holding up the project.
Travis Davies with the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers says the industry isn’t waiting for new pipelines to be built, but are looking at rerouting existing pipelines and trucking their product to meet demand.
