A drastic change in temperatures has increased flooding in Calgary

Calgary’s fire department is dealing with numerous flooding calls.
The warmer weather is being blamed for pipes rupturing as they thaw.
Crews have been called out to 20 buildings alone Saturday.
Just after 9:30 a.m. Saturday morning, firefighters arrived at a high rise on 7th Ave and 9th St. SW after a heating pipe burst on the 7th floor.
The building’s electrical system all the way to the ground floor was affected by the leaking water.
After checking the building out, fire crews determined the structure was safe.
Later in the afternoon, a water pipe burst at the Beverly Care Centre in the southwest affecting around 75 people.
The displaced residents are staying within the facility.
