Fire ravages gas station in Bragg Creek

The clean up continues at a Husky gas station in Bragg Creek, the scene of a massive fire Tuesday night.
CITY TV Reporter Heather Gilbertson tells 660News, residents are talking about the need for water lines to be installed throughout the town.
“There’s no fire hydrants or anything like that for fire crews to hook into,” says Gilbertson. “What they do is fill trucks and that’s how they fight the fires. Residents tell me that in the past, fires have actually gone on and crews have run out of water while they were fighting them.”
As for Tuesday night’s blaze, Gilbertson says the situation is under control and life has returned to normal in Bragg Creek.
“The situation at the gas station seems to be very contained,” Gilbertson continues. “The gas station is in the middle of a mini-mall and all the other businesses are carrying on as usual. Even another gas station that is about 10 feet away from the burned down Husky.”
The fire at the Husky station resulted in a call to crews from throughout the region for help, Tuesday night. A backhoe has been brought in to clear smoldering debris from the site.
