Thick smoke billows from fire in Chestermere

Crews remained at a fire that sent huge plumes of black smoke into the air Saturday afternoon.
A mechanic shop on the east end of town went up in flames at around 2:00 p.m. and the fire could be seen in Calgary from areas including Stony Trail.
Officials were keeping people away from the scene because propane tanks in the building were exploding.
There have been no reports of injuries.
Firefighters from the MD of Rockyview, EMS, and RCMP remained on scene.
