Logging protest held at McDougall Centre

Nearly 50 people rallied outside the McDougall Centre Tuesday afternoon to protest logging projects in the Castle and Bragg Creek regions.
The protestors are worried about the impact on wildlife, tourism and recreation in the areas.
CityTV’s Heather Gilbertson attended the protest and tells 660News, one woman says her family has lived in the area for six generations and she’s really concerned the natural beauty will be ruined and families won’t want to camp in areas with no trees.
She says rallies are being held in both Calgary and Edmonton in an effort to bring more attention to the cause.
The protestors are hoping to get Premier Redford’s attention by sending her Valentine’s Day cards in an effort to get her to listen to their pleas.
The Premier has said in the past she has no plans to intervene but protestors vow to continue to fight by leaving electronic messages, letters and voicemail’s to get as many people to hear about the situation as possible.
Gilbertson says the protestors know the access road to the logging operation in the Castle region is already being built but they say it’s still not to late for someone in government to intervene and help them out.
