Bizarre accident near Strathmore

There was no need for an alarm clock Wednesday morning for a family living along Highway 24 between Strathmore and Calgary.
Strathmore RCMP are trying to find the owner of a pair of dual wheels after they flew off a passing truck and crashed through the front of the family’s rural home.
“The wheels went through the front door and into the entry way of the home,” Constable Keith Anderson tells 660News. It has basically destroyed the front entry of the home.”
The incident happened just after 6am. The owners were home at the time but no one was injured.
“So at this time it simply appears that a set of dual wheels came off a passing commercial vehicle,” adds Constable Anderson. “And the commercial vehicle did not remain at the scene. We’re uncertain if he’s aware that he’s lost a set of wheels or not.”
Anderson says he’s not sure if the Mounties will be able to track down the driver of the vehicle, never mind if charges will be laid.
“I haven’t had enough time to look at the specific wheels we have,” he says, adding it’s believed the wheels came from the left side of a two or three axle trailer.
“We will be following that up as best we can. But even the driver involved may hear this on the news, may not have realized where he lost his wheels.”
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Strathmore RCMP.
