Fire crews rescue man from ice

Water rescue crews had to be called in to help a man off the ice after he became stranded near the Bow River.

Battalion Chief Ernie Molineaux tells 660News, crews arrived to find the man, who was trying to retrieve his bike, that somehow ended up in the water.

“Crews were able to help him from the ice, on the river and retrieved his bicycle for him,” Molineaux said.

He says with the above zero temperatures, people have to remember the dangers that linger near the city’s creeks and rivers and are reminding Calgarians to stay clear.
