Audit called for Peace Bridge

The cost of the Peace Bridge has risen from the original price and some alderman are not impressed.

At least two want a full audit.

The budget for the foot bridge across from the Bow was set at $24.5 million, but it’s now been revealed it has jumped an extra $200,000.

Ald. Diane Colley wants the audit as does Ald. Ray Jones.  He tells 660News he is not interested in putting anymore money into the project.

“I’d actually like to see an audit on what was proposed for the entire bridge and if landscaping was included in the cost of building that bridge then there shouldn’t be any extra money coming; it should be absorbed by the contractor,” said Jones.

The bridge is set to open Mar. 24 after months and months of construction delays.
