Calgary company fined for bad eggs

A Calgary catering company is facing a stiff fine for dishing out Salmonella-laced eggs.
The numbered company, which operates as Calgary Food Services, along with its owner will hand the government a cheque for almost $24,000.
In the decision handed-down Tuesday, a provincial judge ruled the company was buying eggs from unapproved sources.
The oddly-shaped, off-coloured eggs were linked to a November 2010 out-break of Salmonella that landed at least six people in the hospital.
A major factor in the judge’s decision was that the company continued to purchase the eggs even after it was caught once.
