National pink shirt day

There is no shortage of people wearing pink shirts today, which is not surprising, considering today is National Pink Shirt Day.

Carolyn Luhing with the Boys and Girls club of Calgary, says the day is dedicated to raising awareness about the need to crackdown on all forms of bullying.

“The opportunities for bullying are increasing, but our awareness is increasing at the same time.  So I do think that’s a good sign, that we are aware of what’s happening, that we are putting a name to it, that we’re talking about in our communities and that we’re dedicating a day to it,” said Luhing.

During the month of February, London Drug stores across western Canada were selling pink shirts, with proceeds going to Boys and Girls clubs.
