MLA’s can keep the money if they want

Alberta’s Premier won’t force Tory members to return the cash they were paid to sit on a committee that hasn’t met in 39 months.
Liberal leader Raj Sherman, who is 1 of 21 members of the Standing Committee on Privileges, Standing Orders and Printing, has announced he will return his pay to the provincial treasury.
Liberal MLA Dr. David Swann has already given his cash to charity.
Premier Alison Redford says the decision on whether to return the money or not is up to the individual.
She suggests Raj Sherman’s decision is nothing more than political posturing.
Committee members are paid $1-thousand a month to sit on the committee.
Scott Hennig with the Canadian Taxpayers Federation tells 660News, the Premier should show some leadership by eliminating the committee and forcing its members to surrender money they received.
Hennig believes government MLA’s should never be paid extra for doing their job.
