Tobert gets raise and bonus

The city’s top bureaucrat is getting a nice gift from council.

Owen Tobert is being handed a 2.5 per cent pay raise this year after his salary was frozen at $315,000 since 2008.

He will also receive a 7.6 per cent bonus on 2011’s salary after getting a performance grade of 76 per cent from city council; it works out to about $24,000.

Alderman Andre Chabot said the pay raise is about equal to what other city employees have received recently, and is in line with inflationary increases.
