ParkPlus parkades downtown are getting some extra eyes to nab non-paying parkers.
The Calgary Parking Authority figures it’s losing up to $1.4-million a year in missed fees, telling The Calgary Sun three to five per cent of people don’t pay at the seven city-operated parkades.
A pilot project has cameras being installed at the entrance and exit of the Centennial lot on 9th Avenue.
CPA boss Troy McLeod says if successful, five of Calgary’s other six ParkPlus parkades could also get cameras installed at the cost of $100,000 per facility.
