Grass fire burning near Airdrie

Firefighters are on the scene of a large grass fire burning near Highway 566, and Range Road 291.
Jason drove through the area, and tells 660News the fire is at least a couple hundred feet large in both direction.
“It looked like a farmer was burning some garbage and the wind may have carried some embers away and hit some trees and stuff in the area.” he says, “If it keeps going the way it’s going, it’ll hit some houses.”
Fire departments from Airdrie, Crossfield, Irricana, and Balzac are on scene, and callers to the 660News Traffic Centre report a portion of Range Road 291 is closed at Township Road 272.
