No delays on spring election: Redford

Don’t expect Premier Alison Redford to delay the spring election.
Redford told that to reporters Friday after rumours had surfaced that some PC MLAs were asking the dropping of the writ to be pushed back by a couple weeks.
Redford says she’s ready to go.
“We have a plan, we have a budget, we’re talking about the issues Albertans care about, and I think that’s a pretty good way to run,” says Redford.
Political insiders claim Tory MLAs have been requesting the election be pushed back because they are concerned about recent events that could hurt them at the polls; including the revelation of committee-members getting paid despite not meeting in years.
But the premier says she hasn’t heard any of that talk.
“We’re a stronger caucus now than we’ve been in the six months since I’ve been leader,” claims Redford.
She goes on to say her primary focus right now is to pass the provincial budget in the near future.
Once the budget is rubber-stamped, expect the writ to be dropped, which would land Albertans at the polls in the last full week of April.
