Thousands of break ins occur across the province this time of year and safe guarding yourself and your home will help you enjoy your spring break vacation.
Chief Underwriter for Canadian Direct Insurance, Karen Hopkins-Lee, there are a few tips to keep top of mind.
“If you have an alarm system, make sure it’s set and bottom line don’t advertise on social media that you are going to be away from your home because unfortunately the good guys as well as the bad guys are looking at that information,” said Hopkins-Lee.
A house sitter is ideal if you’re traveling but putting a stop to your mail and having someone stop in every other day to make your home look lived in is an alternative.
